For all those who didn't have the chance to participate at the workshop "Measurement of the morphological structure of fibres and particles", this second Newsletter of the IST offers an insight in to the topics that have been discussed in Montréal. Furthermore you find some interesting news about our products.

• The workshop "Measurement of the morphological structure of fibres and particles",  held in Montréal the 12-13 April 2012, offered many interesting presentations and discussions (see program). The abstracts and a short report will show you some of the key elements of the workshop.
  

• As in our last Newsletter you find below the description of ongoing research projects that give you some examples of different applications of the Fibreshape and Powdershape system.
  
  • Research project: Preparation and processing of preserved natural fibres
  • Research project: Using µ-CT for the measurment of fibre orientations in cellulose fibre reinforced PLA composites
    

• Further applications of Fibreshape can be found on our website.

• In Juli the version 5.2 of Fibreshape, Powdershape and Diashape will be available.
  The upcoming version 5.2 contains a new reporting and statistics system. Main new features are:
  
  • Several existing certificate types will be combined into one generic customizable certificate.
  • The intuitive user interface will allow to select and edit the parameters interactively. 
  • Customized reports can be created with ease. 
  • Each report can be created such that it either adheres to the ISO norm 9276-6 or that it uses the existing naming convention.

• Two new product sheets of the Fibreshape Automatic and of the Powderhsape Aqua can be downloaded on our website.
• At the World Exhibition Congress ACHEMA, taking place in June (see Events) the Powdershape Microsscan will be presented.

• June 18 - 22, 2012, Frankfurt am Main, Germany: ACHEMA - World Exhibition Congress on Chemical Engineering, Environmental Protection and Biotechnology.
  The IST Ltd. together with the L.U.M. GmbH will be present at the ACHEMA with a booth.
• October 16-20, 2012, Friedrichshafen (Germany): Fakuma  -International trade fair for plastics processing.
  The IST Ltd. can be found at the booth of our distributor Maag Flockmaschinen GmbH.
